Our last day in Venice!

Guess we knew this day would come before we knew it.  We agreed that we would go at a slow pace today and leave most of the afternoon for organizing and packing.  Sleeping in a bit seemed like a good idea!  We woke to partly cloudy skies with hints of sunshine.  We had breakfast, did a little bit of cleaning up......and then headed over to Palanca to get something for lunch and dinner.  Needless to say, this also involved a cappucino on the fondamenta at Cafe Majer!

Take a look below.   This is the arrangement of the two 'galley' kitchens we had in the apartment.  The shot is taken in the doorway between the studios.

Pictured above are the pastries we bought on Monday afternoon.  Andrea thinks we may have overdone this.......as we only had a day to eat them all!

Below is the back room at Cafe Majer.  It is really a fun place.

Cafe Majer is definitely a 'local' hang out......including the gulls and terns!

A short stroll along the water, and Harry's Dolci is closing up their outdoor seating for the season.  Overall, our timing could not have been better for being in Venice.  Many of the seasonal venues are starting to close, or at least move everything inside.  Of the 21 days in Venice, we had only one day of rain (and a couple of nights), but had sunshine every other day!  So lucky!

Below was our lunch for today. in the apartment.....great pizza slices from Majer.

and the process begins!

and we also had to 'demount' our watercolor sketeches from the kitchen 'wall gallery.'  This had worked out really well for us as a place to put the paintings a bit out of the way.

From this week in the garden.

One last evening walk through the gardens.......and back to the roof deck.

and a late night to finish the packing!
