On a pace to relax......morning here on San Giorgio and Guidecca for dinner

Things are finally feeling a little less pressured and hectic. Today we decided to stay on San Giorgio and visit the Venini Luce glass exhibit sponsored by the Fondazione Cini.  The show just opened this week and we are seeing a steady, but reasonable, stream of visitors.

We had breakfast in the room and got some work done for an hour or two........although still moving slowly into our sketching and painting........we will get there!  Around 11:00 we went down to the San Giorgio Cafe for a cappucino........such a convenient and fun place to have here.

VENINI LUCE GLASS EXHIBIT

Venini has been one of the most prominent and celebrated glass making companies from Murano for almost 100 years.  This show was a history of the company and an illustration of some of their most famous works, focusing primarily on light fixtures.

Two drawings by Carlo Scarpa who worked at Venini in the late 30's and early 40's.  Scarpa is a legend among Italian artists in the later part of the 20th century, when he expanded his skills to become a rather extraordinary architect.......one of our favorites.

A quick look at where we are hanging out........would like to call it work! A nice work area for each of us.

Lunch in the apartment.......check out the iced tea in the wine bottle!

SPECIAL TREAT........THE BELMOND CIPRIANI FOR DRINKS AND DINNER

Hate to admit it.......a totally incredible cheeseburger and fries.......while Andrea had a much more reasonable shrimp and avocado salad!
